Visiting its hidden and unusual courtyards in the 11th arrondissement
Formerly, the district was the home of specialized craftsmen who settled in 17th and 18th century houses. It is very different from the Paris of the French Royalty and Baron Haussmann. The workshops no longer exist, but with the gentrification of the end of the 20th century, all the buildings have been restored and now you can see superb courtyards, which are a 5-minute-walk from the bustle of the city. We’ll finish our visit with a walk on the hanging gardens of the “Viaduc des Arts”, an ancient railway track that is now a garden-lined promenade.
