In the footsteps of Edth Piaf : a visit in the 20th arrondissement
Probably the best – known, thanks to Edith Piaf, Maurice Chevalier, but also the famous photographer Robert Doisneau and Willy Ronis who
fell in love with the picturesque
backstreets and the steps lining the
hill of Ménilmontant in the fifties.
We will tread along the path of these eye-poets in the stone-paved alleys with their tiny gardens and we’ll finish with the lower part or Belleville Street, always crowded and full of Asian shopkeepers (You are in the most recent Chinatown of Paris). Belleville has welcome different waves of immigration and has been one of the most cosmopolitan neighbourhoods in the city for more than a century.
